These are my two youngest cats, being 1 1/2 years old. They are brother and sister, Hansel and Gretel. I started fostering them when they were 4 weeks old, and I eventually adopted them. They had 3 other siblings but within 2 weeks they had all died. Gretel herself was within inches of death. I believe that her brother helped keep her alive. He never left her side. She was a miracle and he was her hero. To this day they share a very strong bond. This photo is something that happens quite frequently. Hansel is the one on top with his eyes open. He will usually lie on top of Gretel. When anything gets near them Hansel will always open his eyes to see what it is. Gretel will always remain with her eyes shut. I don’t know if he is trying to protect her, but I would like to think so.
