Bird Watching by supremestar Bird Watching by supremestar
Kalia spends a lot of time throwing her fish to the birds. Her mother and brother use it as a technique to catch the birds, but it always looks like little Kalia just wants to befriend them. So, instead of hunting it looks like she's just bird watching. Of course there will be a time that will no longer be the case.

That makes me sad that they sometimes eat the bird(s). :(

Wow, that picture makes her look so huge! I don't think she had ever caught a bird, maybe she is just waiting for the perfect moment. ;)

I love how she's looking straight at that unsuspecting seagull, lol. She has quite the gaze.

Thanks. I chose the title because she always seems more interested in watching the birds than hunting them. I'm sure that will change as she gets older.

omg amazing! So clear and cute! Well there was one time Nakai and Kalia were feeding the birds :P I can't believe the bird actually took the fish from Nakai. Maybe Kalia will end up being a bird feeder XD

You have a really nice camera. :3
I love the little shines on the tip of her face and her fin. She's getting so big! -pokes her belly- xD
I also love how it looks like she's glaring at the seagull, trying to hypnotise it or something. xD

That reminds me. There were white herons (?) on the slide out. And Kasatka squirted at the bird, which made it stumble, then Kalia came up on the opposite side and tried to grab it. It seemed like it to me. But it was kind of cool, becuase you weren't expecting that!

you're welcome. yup..I'm glad Keet was able to produce a healthy baby..wasn't he pretty young when he mated with Kasatka?

Not extremely young about 10. It's younger than wild orcas but captive orcas seem to breed at younger ages. Also, Keet was extremely well liked by the other orcas, which would make sense that he would breed at a younger age.

Excellent shot!
I got to watch her and Nakai hoarking up the fish to the birds while I was there in January (what awful noises! lol). You're absolutely right though, she doesn't seem to have any intent on attacking them. She just wants to watch.

Yeah, the noise they make isn't so pretty, especially Nakai. Did you see how far he can throw his fish? I've seen him throw it clear across the pool.
